I found Exodus chapter 38 verse 8 intriguing today: “The bronze washbasin and its bronze pedestal were cast from bronze mirrors donated by the women who served at the entrance of the Tabernacle.”  Apparently mirrored glass had not yet been invented in these days, but highly polished bronze gave off a good reflection.  This reminds me of Paul’s writings in First Corinthians 13:12 – “Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”  Below is an image of the type of ancient bronze mirror that could have been used in the making of the bronze washbasin (obviously this ancient bronze mirror below is not currently “highly polished” 🙂 –

Worship God:  Our readings in Exodus today all the work on the tabernacle items reminded me of Jars of Clays’ song “Work:”

Thank You for this blog, I did the one Year for a year and a half, and it was wonderful to finally finish reading the Bible in a year. This I find a little harder but I want the Chronological understanding. I listen to the Bible Experience when I drive to give me the New Testament ‘Times” I miss.
I have been noticing that there are no floor coverings for the Tabernacle. Could it be that the land is too important to cover? That having the dust we were made from right there is important?
I have a friend with Bridges for Peace and I heard at a meeting a story of how when the Israelis’ gave up land to the Gaza strip the land stopped producing. A man that became a Christ follower said he tried to follow all the farming techniques that he was taught but land was unresponsive.
The commentaries you suggest (thank you, thank you) could possibly have answers but I just wanted to say…
    Thank You so Much
